The Longest Of Days Ride 2010
Sunday June 13th.
 Latest News.
The weather looks warm for Sunday, so please drink plenty of water Saturday. We have added another couple of stops on route and taken one out. The stop at Ardingly has been pulled, as The South of England Show is on this weekend at the Showground opposite. Please take care in this area as there will be a high volume of cars on the road. The new feed stations will be just outside Edenbridge at Marsh Green 24 miles. Ditchling at 54 miles, Alfriston at 74 miles, Battle at 95 miles, Gills Green at 113 miles, Yalding at 125 miles, Meopham Green 138 miles,
Toilets at 17, 74, 95, 125 miles. If you need extra water, energy bars, spares or mechanicals, a car will be following and can be with us to help out, with a phone call to Mags on 07773030410 who will co ordinate the back up vehicles.
We would love you to stick together as one group, as this will make it a safer ride and easier to manage feed stations, route directions and any break downs.
If different groups do form up, they must be able to follow the route, as the back up cars will only be following the planned route.
No riders will be allowed to ride alone, if you find yourself between groups please drop back to the group behind.
Estimated timing schedules.
Based on 15 mph ave.

I have ammended the route a little, one we were a couple of miles short, ( don't want anyone to feel cheated)
also the route was a little complicated in the middle section, which is now easier to follow, the plus side, we are not climbing the full length of
Wrotham Hill, the down side we are still climbing up to Vigo, the run in will be along Green St Green Road, then the finish via the top gate,
( much better than Powder Mill).
The route now shows the feed stations.

Why Liam is raising money with Seeds for GOSH

Date: June 13th 2010, 150 miles.
Starting from Dartford Princes Park,  via Brighton (Ditchling Beacon) and back in one day, A Challenge to match the challenge children at Great Ormond Street go through on a daily basis. Taking in some big climbs on the way, Route plans and route download available. Come on make the effort, the pain will ease, the achievement will last forever. Your donations will make a difference.

Liam was born on the 22nd May and seemed a very well baby, some of small problems we faced of him always being hungry and not taking his milk for long periods were all tell tale signs of problems ahead.
At 7 months Liam had his first show of heart failure, his lungs had filled with fluid going through his hole in his heart…
We were very fortunate that Great Ormond Street became his hospital as they have shown great expertise and compassion towards Liam and as parents; our wishes were taken into consideration.
Liam joined his first cycling club at the tender age of 4 and still remains part of two clubs, Seeds cycling and his racing club VCL.

Achievements to date:

5th in the South East Cyclo – cross championship

3rd in the South East / London Cyclo Cross League

1st Kent Mountain bike championships

9th in the national cross country rankings

6th in 2009 British mountain bike series

6th In South East and London cyclo Cross league

9th in the under 15  British Cyclo Cross championship

2nd in the inter area B team cyclo cross championship

We await results for 2010 where Liam is competing at National level for Mountain Bike, and will be participating in National cyclo cross as well.

His latest diagnosis is still the hole in his heart and a leaking valve but due to his health and achievements in sport we remain with continuing having checks ups and reviewing his situation every couple of years.  We do believe that a healthy lifestyle with exercise has played an important role in this decision.

So Liam has now had his last visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Seeds cycling are raising money for them on a special ride of 150 miles. This ride will be to Brighton and back to Dartford again in a day.  The route is planned, the back up driver’s ready, the riders preparing and sponsorship forms going out and we have asked for good weather on the 13th June!
